GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: Madagascar - Indonesia / Australia - Cooks, ?Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group only; Land, lowlands

KEY FEATURES: Small moth (11mmTL) pearly white with bronze reflections and greyish wing margins.

SIMILAR SPECIES: is smaller to 9mmTL (vs 11mm) and has one black or grey spot (vs double spot).

More Information

IDENTIFICATION: Small moth (11mmTL) pearly white with bronze reflections and greyish wing margins. Fore wings 3 thin wavy lines, continuing on hind wings; double cell spot. Underside similar to upper surface. Head, Thorax, Abdomen coloured as wings. Legs and Antennae greyish brown.

GENERAL NOTE: Biology: Caterpillar rolls/folds leafblade of various grasses, including rice. Adults often congregate in daytime on undersides of citrus leaves.
