GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: Indonesia /Australia - French Polynesia; s. to Rapa (vagrant to NZ)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands and upland

KEY FEATURES: Medium moth (13-16mmTL) brown, grey and black with whitish kidney spot.

More Information

IDENTIFICATION: Medium moth (13-16mmTL) brown, grey and black with whitish kidney spot. Fore wings more or less oblong, body stout; forewings light brown with weak bronze iridescence crossed by variable number of incomplete black lines whitish kidney spot present in cell with smaller more weakly marked spot to the inside. Underside of fore wings black leading edge brown. Hind wings grey lighter towards body than distal margin fringe grey or buff, underside grey darker distally. Head and Thorax brown, underside paler. Abdomen grey, underside paler with segmental spots. Legs banded brown and black. Antennae brown.

GENERAL NOTE: Caterpillar a cutworm on herbaceous weeds and vegetable crops. Adult nocturnal.
