Dysgonia arctotaenia (Guenée, 1852)

TAXONOMY: ANIMALIA; ARTHROPODA; ATELOCERATA; HEXAPODA; INSECTA; PTERYGOTA; Lepidoptera; NOCTUIDAE
IDENTIFICATION: Medium moth (21mmTL) blackish brown with white stripes.
Fore wings blackish brown with broad white band across wing; diagonal symmetrical flash inward from front edge; thin dark brown wavy line inward from apex to rear edge near white line; terminal edge fringed in white. Hind wings dark brown; broad white band diagonally across wing; dark eye spots; fringe whitish. Underside blackish brown with light patches on fore wings; fringe whitish. Head small. Thorax and Abdomen dark brown. Legs brown. Antennae cream, thin, long.
GENERAL NOTE: Biology: Unknown. One adult, collected close to upland forest in the Avana valley.
