GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: Indonesia / Australia - Cooks - French Polynesia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands; grass areas

KEY FEATURES: Small moth (9-12mmTL). Wings grey-brown darker inner half separated by abrupt edge or a pale band from wide and distinct to narrow and obscure.

More Information

IDENTIFICATION: Small moth (9-12mmTL), with long spindly legs, truncate wing apex, wings variable in colour and markings. Fore wings may have coloured bands - brown, dark brown, buff, pink. Proximal part of both fore and hind wings darker than distal part, which is usually suffused with pink. Underside with colours similar to upper surface; 4 transverse lines visible in some specimens. Head, Thorax and Abdomen coloured as proximal part of wings. Legs buff. Antennae grey.
