General Information

COMMON NAMES: Slender Lady-Palm, Reed Rhapis

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE s.China

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Low reedlike palm. Stems very slender, several to many in a cluster. LEAVES fan-shaped, 9-15 segments to 20x2.5cm, sharp-tipped. All cultivated plants are male, and are propagated by separation of suckers.

SIMILAR SPECIES: See under Lady Palm (Rhapis excelsa).
