General Information

COMMON NAMES: Bandfin Frogfish, Pygmy Frogfish, Pygmy Angler, Reticulated Frogfish, Tuberculated Frogfish

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Pitcairn, Hawai‘i; n. to Philippines; s. to Cooks.

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, Coral reef

KEY FEATURES: A small unusual fish to 7cm SL. Almost spherical. Colour highly variable, very pale to yellowish-orange. Dark band on tail distinctive; in darker forms blotches on body connected by a dark open lattice-work of lines. No expansion on tip of fishing pole
