General Information

COMMON NAMES: Picture Rockskipper, Humpheaded Blenny; French Blennie Picturale

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Panako (RR), Kanako (MK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Ducie, Hawai‘i; n. to s.Japan; s. to Niue

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, Rocky intertidal

KEY FEATURES: to 12cm SL. Dorsal has a dark blotch to 1st or 2nd ray Female - pale greenish with two dark stripes may break into double spots, red dots on head. Male - Body has seven dark grey double interconnected bars, & many light blue-green spots - small on head.
