General Information

COMMON NAMES: Barcheek Trevally, Barcheek Kingfish, Shortridge Trevally; French Carangue à Joure Barrée, Carangue Grimée

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Samoa (- ?Cooks); n. to s.Japan; n. to New Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, lagoon & outer reef-slope to 200m+

KEY FEATURES: To 40cm Sl, depth 3 in SL. Silvery-blue, dark above white below, with yellowish fins & tail. Distinctive narrow black bar on cheek behind eye; breast completely scaled.
