General Information

COMMON NAMES: a jumping spider

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Mangamanga (PK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: Malaya - Philippines - Marquesas, Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native?, Introduced?; Land, lowlands - mountains; vegetation or tree trunks, occasionally buildings

KEY FEATURES: To 13mm BodyL. CEPHALOTHORAX reddish-brown, darker in eye region. A transverse white bar behind eyes and a few white spots on posterior slope. ABDOMEN Relatively elongate, narrow, and somewhat pointed behind. With three longitudinal stripes, the median one light, lateral ones dark, followed by three pairs of small spots. LEGS First pair conspicuously large and dark, carried extending forward. WEB None.
