General Information

COMMON NAMES: a jumping spider

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Mangamanga (PK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: Vanuatu - Marquesas; s. to Australs.

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native?, Introduced?; Land, lowlands - mountains; ground or vegetation

KEY FEATURES: To 3mm BodyL. CEPHALOTHORAX MALE dark brown with six bright orange spots. FEMALE with a mosaic of grey spots and a median longitudinal orange stripe. ABDOMEN Heart-shaped, in MALE mostly dark grey or black with two patches of bright orange scales, in FEMALE with a mosaic of irregular grey patches and a median longitudinal orange stripe. WEB None.
