General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Samoa - Societies; n. to Hawai‘i; s. to Rapa.

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land

KEY FEATURES: Yellow-green, prostrate, irregularly branched. Setae to 2.5cm long, smooth, yellowish; capsule erect, cylinder-shaped, to 4mm, with longitudinal grooves when dry.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Entodon turgidus (distribution?) is an almost identical moss, perhaps at best viewed as a sub-species of the current species [Whittier 1976].
