General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE s.China - Societies; n. to s.China; s. to New Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land, epiphyte

KEY FEATURES: Green to dark-green. On rocks & bark in shaded wet regions. Primary stems 5-7cm long, secondary branches to 1cm long. Setae to 2cm long, smooth, reddish; capsule to 1.5mm long, oval to cylinder-shaped, conical operculum (= capsule-opening cover). Spores green, smooth.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Vesicularia aperta may represent a variation of this species.
