GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE s.Africa

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: Sprawling shrub to 3m. LEAVES round, to 8cm; notched at tip (~10%); fold at night?. FLOWERS in clusters (6-10); red; 6cmØ; petals 5, spoon-shaped (stalked), ruffled margins; stamens 3, fertile. FRUIT flat pod, green drying brown, to 12cm.
