General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Indonesia - PNG, Hawai‘i; Cooks; tropical Americas.

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land, inland exposed ridges, c.350m.; Living immersed in bark (=endophloedal).

KEY FEATURES: Lichen immersed in bark. White. Sexual spore-containers (=ascomata) dark-brown to black with apically to irregularly placed pores; fused in groups of 10-40, up to 4mm wide. Spore sacs (=asci) elongate-cylinders with rounded apex' arranged vertically; 8 spores each. Spores colourless, narrow, to 88x3µm.
