General Information

COMMON NAMES: Coat Buttons, Wild Daisy, Tridax

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Mexico - Venezuela - Bolivia - Peru; EXOTIC Circumtroical and subtropical, including Fiji - Cooks - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands

KEY FEATURES: Sprawling perennial herb. STEMS trailing to 50cm, rooting at nodes. LEAVES oval to narrow-oval, 8x5cm, 3-lobed, rigid hairs, rough to touch. FLOWERS daisy-like, solitary on long erect stalk (to 20cm); RAY FLOWERS 3-6, radiating, cream to white, to 5mm. DISK FLOWERS yellow. SEED black, with 20 hairy bristles.
