POSITIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Food (leaves). Comments: Silverbeet is sometimes grown.

GENERAL NOTE: Beta vulgaris has two basic groups: (1) the Cicla Group are grown mainly for their leaves - Leaf Beet, Spinach Beet, Chard, Swiss Chard; and (2) the Crassa Group are grown mainly for their roots - Garden Beet, Red Beet, Yellow Beet, Beetroot, Mangel and Mangold.
