COMMON NAMES: Hairy Banded-Xanthid

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Tahiti; n. to s.Japan; s. to New Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Poisonous to eat - serious

KEY FEATURES: Small, carapace 18x26mm (LxW), with widely-spaced eyes. Carapace purple with pale mottling; L=70%W; hairy outer sections; frontal lobe without obvious teeth. Chelipeds hairly. Walking legs hairy, purple bands.
