General Information

COMMON NAMES: Warty Seaslug

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Patito (AT)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Cooks, Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, reef-flat, upper reef-slope

KEY FEATURES: To 30cm. Mottled grey-brown to mottled reddish and cream. Large wart-like tubercles with a large central knob with 1-few smaller peripheral knobs; skin between large tubercles is smooth. Underside uniformly brown or red-brown WITHOUT large white spots. FEED on sponges.
