General Information

COMMON NAMES: Baby's-tears, Mind-your-own-business, Pollyanna Vine, Angel's-tears, Irish Moss, Corsican Curse

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE w.Mediterranean

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: A creeping herb, with glossy hairy leaves and insignificant flowers. STEMS thin, 2mm, rooting at nodes, branching. LEAVES alternate, equal in size, round, to 7mm, glossy with small hairs; petiole short. FLOWERS axillary, solitary, minute, insignificant, separate male and female flowers (=monoecious). Varieties: 'Aurea' / 'Golden Queen' (yellow-green) and 'Variegata' / 'Silver Queen' (variegated silver).
