General Information

COMMON NAMES: Baby Rubber Plant, American Rubber Plant, Pepper-face

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Mexico - s.Florida - Caribbean

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Ascends to 15cm. STEM rooting and ascending, round. LEAVES alternate, glossy dark green, round to oval, 10x5cm, tip round to notched, base tapering; stalks to 3cm, ~winged. FLOWERS spike to 15cm. Varieties can have leaves cream, variegated cream, edged-silver, etc.
