GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Brazil

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Food (Fruit 0+)

KEY FEATURES: Tree to 12m. LEAVES opposite, narrow-oval, to 10cm, tip sharp. FLOWERS clustered along trunk and branches; white, tubular, 4 petals; stamens many. FRUIT round, to 3cmØ, white to purple; edible.. NOTE: A tree with narrow leaves (to 10cm), with white flowers on the trunk and branches forming round purple fruit (to 3cm). Sweet and edible. Native of Brazil. Recenly introduced and uncommon.
