General Information

COMMON NAMES: Arizona Cypress, Smooth Cypress

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE s.USA (California - Texas)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Tree to 25m. LEAVES paired, scalelike, blue-green, fine-teeth. FEMALE CONES woody, ovoid, to 3cmØ, powdered, grey-brown; SCALES peltate, 6-8, 4-5-sides with central bract. 4 of the regional varieties have 0 cvs., but var. glabra of central Arizona has 10+ cvs with leaves blue to yellow.
