General Information

COMMON NAMES: Graceful Prawn-goby, White-capped Prawn Goby, White-capped Goby; French Gobie Gracieux

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Fiji - Cooks; s.Japan - GBR

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore,; lagoon, reef-flat and seaward reef, over sand, to 20m

KEY FEATURES: Uniform dark-grey goby to 4cm SL, with white cap on face extending to Dorsal Fin, and paired white spots on Pectoral Fins; tail white with sub-terminal band of black spots. Lives in burrow with a prawn.

IDENTIFICATION: 4cm SL. Dark grey with white face and dorsal side back to Dorsal fin; white spots - 2 on base of each Pectoral, 1 on 2nd Dorsal, and 1 on top of tailbase; tail white with a sub-terminal band of black spots. Lives in burrow with a prawn.
