General Information

COMMON NAMES: Galah, Rose-Breasted Cockatoo; German Rosakakadu

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Australia (widespread)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, Cagebird

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: pet

KEY FEATURES: To 35cm. Pink-red chest and face, with grey wings and back. Small white crest in single curve; beak white. MALE eyes red; FEMALE eyes brown. Female has red-brown iris. Northern and Eastern race (E.r.roseicapillus) have eye-ring reddish; and Western race (E.r.assimilis) have eye-ring gray to white. VOICE pleasant czzk-czzk; loud screech.
