General Information

COMMON NAMES: a jumping spider

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native?, Introduced?; Land, lowlands - mountains; On vegetation

KEY FEATURES: xxx BodyL. CEPHALOTHORAX: Subrectangular, somewhat wider and rounded behind. Eye region dark brown, rest of carapace orange. ABDOMEN: Elongate, narrower in males, wider in females. Dorsally orange, with lateral stripes of dark and whitish. Female more strongly marked than male, with more pronounced dark stripes and one or two dark crossbars as well. Juveniles may be covered with white hair, making them look quite different. LEGS: Yellowish, with many dark spines. EYES: Eight in the usual salticid arrangement. WEB: None.

SIMILAR SPECIES: A few other salticids are similarly long and narrow, but differently colored.
