General Information

COMMON NAMES: Golden Polypody, Rabbit's-foot Fern, Hare's-foot Fern

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Florida - Argentina; EXOTIC EXOTIC incl. Hawai‘i (naturalized)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; S.Group (RR - occasional); Land, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental - leaves

KEY FEATURES: Fronds to 100x50cm, oval to triangular, deeply dissected into wavy straplike sections; sori round in 1-2 irregular rows, often yellow. Root (=rhizome) thick (to 15mm) with bright rusty brown scales.

IDENTIFICATION: To 1m. RHIZOME 15mmØ, bright brown hair-like scales. FROND to 100x50cm, pale green, without hairs, oval to arrow-likedeeply dissected, ; segments to 30x5cm, strap-like, edge wavy; SORI in 1-2 irregular rows, often yellow; stalk (=stipe) to 50cm. Cvs 4.
