SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -
NEGATIVE SIGNIFICANCE: potential invasive of the Cook Islands. Comments: Sucks the sap of plants. In southern California the SWSS has caused major economic damage by spreading plant-damaging bacteria in vineyards since the 1990s. In Tahiti they are a serious nuisance in causing a sticky mist of exuded plant sap under trees, for example under the trees near the main wharf [2003, G.McCormack].
