COMMON NAMES: White-sox Fly

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: RANGE Indonesia - Micronesia, ?Cooks

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land

KEY FEATURES: Slender, long-legged fly, to 9mmBL. HEAD glossy black with large red eyes. THORAX glossy black. WINGS translucent with 2 wide, brownish bands. LEGS long; femurs brown with red-brown sectors; forelegs held forward horizontally, dark with conspicuous white tips. ABDOMEN topside glossy dark red, underside mainly cream.
