GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Mexico / Caribbean - Brazil / Chile; EXOTIC EXOTIC Cook Islands only

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands

KEY FEATURES: Very large fly with black stripes, (10-)12-15(-18)mmBL. HEAD lower-face golden, upper-face golden to grey-gold. THORAX grey with black stripes. ABDOMEN grey with black markings. WINGS clear.

SIMILAR SPECIES: See under Sarcophaga peregrina.
