SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -
POSITIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Biocontrol. Comments: Specifically parasitize the caterillar of the Coconut Flat-moth. Introduced from Fiji to Rarotonga by Ministry of Agriculture Sept 2002, with several consignments during 2003 for Rarotonga and Aitutaki. [Poeschko, Sept.2003, MoA]

Rarotonga: HATCHED from Coconut Flat-Moth caterpillars in M.Poeschko 2/2005 report (see references) as Bracon sp. with mention of introduction of 74 wasps (Sept. 2002 - Feb. 2005); also see MoA report in CI News 18/9/2002, quoting Maja Poeschko on initial release; for details of numbers released see Poeschko MoA report 9/2003; Mangaia: ABSENT from Coconut Flat-Moth caterpillars in M.Poeschko 2/2005 report (see references) as Bracon sp. Atiu: ABSENT from Coconut Flat-Moth caterpillars in M.Poeschko 2/2005 report (see references) as Bracon sp. Mauke: ABSENT from Coconut Flat-Moth caterpillars in M.Poeschko 2/2005 report (see references) as Bracon sp. Aitutaki: ABSENT from Coconut Flat-Moth caterpillars in M.Poeschko 2/2005 report (see references) as Bracon sp. but Coconut Flat-Moths also rare; Poeschko 9/2003 for 6 releases from Fiji from May - August 2003 of 150 wasps and this total is repeated in report of 2/2005.
