General Information

COMMON NAMES: Pink Powderpuff, Surinamese Stickpea, Surinam Powderpuff

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Guyana - Brazil

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; S.Group - uncommon; Land, lowlands, gardens

KEY FEATURES: Spreading shrub or small tree, to 2m (to 6m elsewhere). LEAVES divided into one pair pinnae each to 8cm (rarely to 3 paors pinnae); leaflets 7-12 pairs per pinna, to 20x5mm, near-parallel sides, glossy above, dull below. FLOWERS in head of c.25; each flower with filaments erect, c.12, base white, top pink, fragrant. FRUIT flat pod, 5-6 seeds (not seen).
