COMMON NAMES: Bamboo

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.China - Japan

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group (AT); Land, lowlands

KEY FEATURES: Bamboo to 5m. Culm to 5mx2cm, glabrous with white powder below nodes, many branches above nodes. LEAVES to 30x2cm, long-drawnout, glabrous, hanging, edge sharp; sheaths glabrous, often lacking bristles.
