General Information

COMMON NAMES: Short-winged Cockroach

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Popolonga (PK)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group (AK, ?); N.Group (PK, ?); Land

KEY FEATURES: Uniformly glossy brown-black cockroach to 27mmBL. HEADSHIELD without markings. WINGS do not cover last few segments of abdomen. Most others in genus, including Dorylaea flavicincta in Samoa, have a white margin on front and sides of headshield and on outer front half of wingcover.
