General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: RANGE near circumtropical, incl. Indonesia/Australia - Marquesas - Pitcairn; Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group - present; N.Group - widespread; Land

KEY FEATURES: Tiny fly, to 3mmL. COLOUR yellowish to orange, w/wo red markings on thorax; abdomen topside with broad dark bars. LEGS with a very long, curved, black spine on hindleg (feature of the genus). FEMALE with protruding rear abominal structure.
