General Information

COMMON NAMES: Queensland Lepidozamia

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE ne.Queensland

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; S.Group (RR only, one plant); Land, lowlands, gardens

KEY FEATURES: Cycad-like plant with long fronds. STEM columnar, to 15m by 50cmØ. LEAVES terminal rosette, many (to 100), each to 3m; compound, ladderlike with 150-200 leaflets; stalk to 50cm, smooth; LEAFLETS (=pinnae) lancelike, to 35x3cm, 15-30 veins, glossy, light green. POLLEN CONES cylindrical, to 80x15cm, with sporophylls cuneate, to 3x3cm. SEED CONES ovoid, to 60x30cm. SEEDS red, to 6x3cm.
