General Information

COMMON NAMES: Quoy's Parrotfish; French Perroquet de Quoy

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE India - Vanuatu, Cooks, n. to Japan, s. to N.Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, outer reef-slope, to 20m

KEY FEATURES: To 25cm SL. INITIAL PHASE grey-brown without distinctive markings. TERMINAL MALES: Blue-green with scaled edged red to pink. Green snout and cheeks. Tail-stalk green. Dorsal fin mainly orange with a blue margin. Anal red-brown with blue margin. Tail yellow-green with blue margins top and bottom. Pectoral fins blue with dark stripe in upper section.
