General Information

COMMON NAMES: Bougainvillea

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Peru - Colombia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

KEY FEATURES: A climbing shrub with a single cultivar. Long canes often bare of leaves when young. SPINES short. LEAVES long and narrow, tapering both ends, without hairs. BRACTS ruffled, small, rounded, pink. FLOWER TUBE less than 2.2mmØ, without hairs. This single cultivar is called 'Lady Hudson' or "Princess Margaret Rose'.
