GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Pitcairn; n. to Philippines; s. to Australs

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, outer reef slope, 25-90m; current swept dropoffs

KEY FEATURES: Oval fish to 25cmSL. Colour from pale to dark, almost black; with fine blue lines on body and blue spots on head and throat; tail dark? or white? (regional variation? GMcC)
