General Information

COMMON NAMES: Pink Wax-scale, Red Wax-scale

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, horticultural, mountains

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Pest

KEY FEATURES: FEMALES are covered with a thick dome of pink wax, to 3mmØ. They produce mobile young ('crawlers'), mainly asexually (=parthenogenesis), which walk to new locations. MALES Males are winged, rare, non-feeding, and short-lived.
