COMMON NAMES: Harlequin Hind, Polleni Grouper; French Vielle arlequin

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE islands from w.Indian Ocean disjunct to Line Islands

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group unknown; N.Group (Pukapuka, ?); Marine, near-shore, deepbottom; 30-120+m

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Rare food-fish

KEY FEATURES: To 45cmTL. Yellow to greenish-yellow, with 10-12 blue to violet stripes, with those on anterior-upper body broken into segements. A very distinctive fish.
