General Information

COMMON NAMES: Sweet Granadilla, Granadilla

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE S.America (Andes)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised?; S.Group only (rare); Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Food (Fruit 1+)

KEY FEATURES: Climbing vine. STEM round or with weak angles. LEAVES alternate, heart-shaped, to 20x15cm(LxW), glossy green, base lobed; stalk to 10cm with 4-8 elongate knobs to 10mmL, stipules wide-oval, to 4cmL. FLOWERS to 8cmØ with green, white and purple. FRUIT (=berry) wide-ovoid, to 7cmØ, mature orange with white spots, edible.
