GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE w.Indian Ocean - Cooks

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - present; N.Group ?; Marine, near-shore, benthic, attached

KEY FEATURES: Encrusting to digitate sponge with a smooth shiny surface and rubbery, fleshy texture; colour in life is lemon yellow, colour upon collection or exposure to air, royal purple as pigments oxidise.
