COMMON NAMES: Dark Blue Sponge

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Philippines, Cooks

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - present; N.Group ?; Marine, near-shore, benthic, attached

KEY FEATURES: Thickly encrusting sponge with a rubbery wrinkled surface and large flush oscules on the tops of raised mounds; dark blue in life.
