General Information

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - widespread; N.Group ?; Land, on damp tree bark

KEY FEATURES: A yellow to orange fibrous mat on damp surfaces, especially tree bark. A minute filamentous green algae that turns orange in sunlight, as it makes carotene for protection against sunlight.
