TAXONOMY: PLANTAE; ANTHOPHYTA (=Angiospermae); MAGNOLIOPSIDA (=Dicotyledones); ROSIDAE; Fabales (Legumes); MIMOSACEAE
SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -
POSITIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Forestry. Comments: Introduced 1987 to Mangaia. Fernland afforestation.
NEGATIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Weed - serious (Mangaia only). Comments: Spreading rapidly in inland Mangaia on open and disturbed areas. Persistent and difficult to remove. Not showing any tendency to invade the native makatea forest (as of 2001).
GENERAL NOTE: 19___ ( ) Afforestation of fernlands.
