General Information

COMMON NAMES: Billygoat Weed, Ageratum, Goat Weed

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Mexico - Caribbean - S.America

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands - mountains (++++)

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Weed - moderate

KEY FEATURES: Erect herb to 1m. LEAVES opposite, ovate, to 10x5cm; base rounded, tip sharp, with large teeth, hairy both sides; stalk 1-5cm. FLOWERS compound, several in erect clusters; each bluish-purple or white with ~75 florets, with styles protruding; seeds (=achenes) 1-2mm, smooth.
