General Information

COMMON NAMES: Silver Evergreen

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Philippines - Borneo.

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Medicine, Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Large leaved herb, to 1.5m. Erect, to creeping with erect apex. LEAVES oval, to 30x15cm; banded along lateral veins, or spotted. Cultivars: >>'Pseudobracteatum' LEAFSTALK white. SPATHE white, waxy. >>'elegans' LEAFSTALK short, thick. >>'Tricolor' LEAFSTALK mottled white to pink. >>'Treubii' LEAFSTALK slender; green, spots silvery. SPATHE creamy-green.
