General Information

COMMON NAMES: Chinese Chive, Garlic Chives, Oriental Garlic, Kui Choi

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE se.Asia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Food (Leaf 2+) Cond

KEY FEATURES: Herb with 4-9 flat upright leaves. BULBS very narrow, outer layer membranous. LEAVES 4-9, solid, flat with keel, to 35cm x 8mm. FLOWER-STALK (=scape) to 50cm, angled. FLOWERS 6mm long, white with green or brown stripe, filaments NOT protruding, stalks 10-15mm.
