COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: To 2m with nodding white-veined leaves. LEAVES arrowlike, to 40x20cm, metallic dark green above and grren or purple below; basal lobes sharp, shortly united; top sharp; veins widely spaced, white; edge silver, ~lobed at veins.

More Information

GENERAL NOTE: The present species has been hybridised with Alocasia lowii to give Xamazonica and Xmortefontanensis, which are very similar to present parent. The name Kris is derived from the name of a deadly Javan and Malayan dagger with a wavy edge, often poisoned, variously translated as kris, creese, crease.
