COMMON NAMES: a floating cyanobacteria

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Freshwater, lakes (Mitiaro)

KEY FEATURES: A bright green granular material. Each granule is a colony of elongate one-celled algae held together in a mucous sphere.
